Compeer Quilters

Compeer’s Quilters program not only teaches quilting, sewing and fabric skills, it also provides education in life skills and/or enhancement of social, cultural and interaction skills. Women who participate are referred from substance-abuse programs and/or mental-health professionals.

The Quilters program was originally designed as a six- to eight-week session, but because of the very successful response, it has became a permanent program. Compeer Quilters now serves approximately 40 women annually (21-28 clients/week).

Liberty Manor, one of Compeer's community referral sources, has made the quilting group part of its group-therapy curriculum.
